Electrical fault finding in Kent.
Trips, dead sockets and flickering lights all have a cause. I test methodically to find it, then fix the problem rather than just resetting the switch.
Finding the cause, not just the symptom.
Some faults are obvious, like a socket that has stopped working after a bang. Others come and go, tripping the RCD once a week or only when it rains. Those intermittent faults are the hardest to pin down, so I work through the circuits methodically, using insulation resistance and continuity tests to narrow down where the problem sits. Common culprits include damp outdoor fittings, a failing appliance, a loose connection or a nail through a cable.
If you notice a burning smell, scorch marks or a socket that feels hot, switch off at the consumer unit if it’s safe to do so and call me. Don’t keep resetting a breaker that trips straight away, as it’s doing its job. I’m available 24/7, including evenings, weekends and emergencies, so you don’t have to sit in the dark until Monday.
Fault finding is charged for the time spent, whether or not the fix can be completed on that visit. Some faults need a part ordering or a follow-up visit. I’ll explain the likely cost before I start and keep you updated as I go, so you can decide what happens next. Any repair is backed by my 12-month guarantee on work and parts supplied.
Three simple steps.
- 1
Tell me what’s happening
Describe the symptoms, when they started and anything that changed. It often points straight to where I should start looking.
- 2
Methodical testing
I isolate and test circuits one at a time to find the cause, explaining what I’ve found as I go.
- 3
Fix and confirm
Once repaired, I retest to make sure the fault has cleared and email a Minor Works Certificate where one applies.
I also handle EICRs, maintenance, commercial work and WiFi & Data. See all services
