House rewires in Kent.
A full or partial rewire brings old wiring up to modern standards, with more sockets where you need them and proper protection on every circuit.
A rewire, planned around your home.
Wiring doesn’t last forever. Rubber and fabric insulated cable from the 1960s and earlier becomes brittle and can crumble, and many older homes have no earth on the lighting circuits at all. A full rewire replaces everything from the consumer unit outwards. A partial rewire tackles the parts that need it most, such as a kitchen or a single floor, and can be a sensible option when the rest of the wiring tests well.
Rewiring is messy work, so planning matters. I agree a room-by-room order with you, lift floorboards carefully, use dust sheets and clean up at the end of each day. Where possible I keep some power and lighting on so you can stay in the house. Chases and holes are made good to a reasonable standard ready for your plasterer or decorator, but plastering and decorating aren’t included unless they’re on your quote.
Period properties need extra thought. I route cables to avoid cutting into original cornicing, panelled walls and old floors wherever I can, and talk through options for switches and sockets that suit the house. A rewire is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, and your quote will explain how it will be notified and any fee. When it’s finished, you’ll get an Electrical Installation Certificate by email.
Three simple steps.
- 1
Survey and plan
I check the existing wiring, talk through where you want sockets and lights, then email an itemised quote and room-by-room plan.
- 2
First and second fix
New cables go in first, then walls are made good. Then sockets, switches, fittings and a new consumer unit go in.
- 3
Test and certify
Every circuit is tested to BS 7671 and I email your Electrical Installation Certificate once everything has passed.
I also handle EICRs, maintenance, commercial work and WiFi & Data. See all services
