EICRs and electrical testing in Kent.
An EICR is a full health check of your wiring. I test every circuit, explain what I find in plain English and email you the report.
A clear picture of your wiring.
An Electrical Installation Condition Report, or EICR, checks the fixed wiring in a property: the consumer unit, circuits, sockets, switches and light fittings. I inspect what can be seen and test each circuit to make sure it’s safe and protected properly. It’s the report people ask for when buying or selling a home, when renting a property out, or simply when nobody knows how old the wiring is.
As a guide, the IET recommends an EICR every 10 years for a home you live in, and every 5 years for rented homes and most business premises. In England, private landlords must have one at least every 5 years. Anything that needs attention is given a code: C1 means danger present, C2 means potentially dangerous, and C3 means an improvement is recommended. Any C1 or C2, or an item needing further investigation, makes the report unsatisfactory until it’s put right.
Testing means the power goes off for short spells, so I’ll talk you through the plan before I start. When the report is done, I go through the results with you and email the full EICR. If anything needs fixing, you’ll get a separate written quote for the remedial work, with no pressure to have it done by me. I can also PAT test portable appliances on the same visit if you need it.
Three simple steps.
- 1
Book the visit
Tell me the type of property and roughly how many bedrooms or circuits, and I’ll email a clear quote and agree a time.
- 2
Inspect and test
I check the consumer unit, wiring and accessories, and test every circuit, with the power off only in short spells.
- 3
